- Provide assistance to VR counselors in the provision of direct client services by assisting with the purchase of items needed for client’s employment using an agency purchasing card.
- Receive visitors and answer telephone calls, determine purpose of visits and calls, furnish necessary information, take and relay messages and arrange appointments.
- Update, maintain, and provide information to clients and staff on the availability and utilization of community resources for financial aid, housing, transportation and job search assistance.
- Maintain case files and transfer case records through management information system.
- Request and document receipt of relevant medical, educational, and vocational information used in determining eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services.
- Write approved client authorization for services as directed by counselor or supervisor.
- Prepare documentation of client contact and follow up with counselor for case file.
- Assist counselor to arrange for provision of follow up services in accordance with approved individualized employment plans.
- Handle various remittances from vendors as they relate to client files and case service expenditures.
- Receive invoices for payment; review invoices for mathematical accuracy and dates of service; approve and process invoices for payment.
- Communicate with vendors and staff regarding discrepancy on invoices and take appropriate action to rectify the discrepancy.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
- One year of work experience or training in customer service and business office practices preferred.
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position, may be accepted in lieu of the above.)
