As a Public Health Program Specialist, you will make a real impact by serving as a professional liaison for the Bureau of Vital Records through assisting internal team members and external stakeholders and customers regarding all aspects of vital records and related matters.
- Field activities in assigned counties that include occasional travel across the state and some overnight stays. Approximately 70-80% work is conducted in office; 20-30% travel.
- Provide direct vital record assistance to hospital personnel, funeral directors, medical examiners/coroners, physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, local public health agency staff, recorders of deeds, circuit clerks, midwives, students, and the general public regarding births, deaths, fetal death reports, marriages, dissolution of marriages, and induced termination of pregnancy reports.
- Provide call center/phone and email technical support and troubleshooting for the web-based Missouri Electronic Vital Record (MoEVR) system and assist with development and enhancement of the information systems for registering vital records.
- Collaborate and educate data providers about the critical importance of accurate and timely public health data; strive for continual data quality improvement; follow-up on data discrepancies.
- Conduct and attend trainings, workshops, seminars, and conferences as necessary to ensure compliance with state requirements and to maintain high quality data for reporting of vital events.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree and two (2) or more years of relevant experience
- You will operate in a fast-paced, confidential environment which requires a high focus, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask
- You should excel in customer service skills with internal and external customers and be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Access, composing correspondence and reports, collecting data, presenting information, and writing articles for publication
- You will be working in a multi-team member environment which requires emotional intelligence, experience in excercising autonomy, and the ability to use analytical thinking skills and requires a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and stakeholders
