    Why you’ll love this position:

The MSPHL is a well-established Midwestern state public health laboratory that has been in operation since 1906, and currently consists of approximately 110 team members and an operating annual budget of approximately $14 million. The MSPHL exists in Jefferson City, Missouri and operates within a 117,000 square foot facility that was custom designed and opened in 2007, complete with substantial operating BSL3 laboratories. A branch laboratory is also maintained in southeast Missouri. The MSPHL is in the midst of embarking on an exciting laboratory construction project that will build additional space/buildings for the MSPHL, as well as join several other Missouri state agency laboratories into a state of the art “One Health” Laboratory Campus anchored at the existing MSPHL facility. The MSPHL prioritizes quality testing services through an established comprehensive quality assurance program that records excellent past performance on various laboratory quality checks and accreditations.

You will serve as the Laboratory CLIA Director to ensure the MSPHL continues to operate successfully within the requirements of CLIA for high complexity testing. You will assist in providing direction to Missouri’s designated Laboratory Response Network (LRN) laboratory. You will use your skills in management, innovation, and creativity to ensure the clinical testing at the MSPHL meets the requirements of CLIA high complexity testing. The MSPHL is located in Jefferson City, Missouri; a peaceful Midwestern capital city situated on the Missouri River with a population of approximately 40,000. The MSPHL is located within minutes of Missouri’s two land grant universities: Lincoln University (3 miles) and the University of Missouri (30 miles). The University of Missouri is located in Columbia, Missouri (population 125,000) and is a member of the NCAA’s Southeastern Conference (SEC) with a total student enrollment of approximately 31,000. The MSPHL is located less than 2 driving hours of St. Louis (2.8 million metro population) and 2.5 driving hours of Kansas City (2.4 million metro population). The MSPHL is also within minute’s access to Missouri’s cross-state Katy Biking Trail and less than one hour drive to the picturesque and major Midwestern tourist destination of The Lake of the Ozarks.
