Minimum Salary: $56,760 (commensurate with experience and education)
Job Location: This position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Why is the work you do in this position important to Missouri?
The person in this position is responsible for creating graphics and visual arts used to disseminate information to the people of Missouri served by the Department of Commerce and Insurance. These duties include developing graphics, editing photos, and designing and laying out publications (print and digital) which represent the agency and tell our story. This position also plays a key role in developing content and graphics used for major marketing campaigns and communication projects focused on consumer education and awareness.
Graphic Design
- Develop graphics within the department brand standards
- Design graphics used for print and digital formats
- Develop visuals for department social media posts and campaigns
- Review publications to ensure they’re ready for publication and distribution
Website Responsibilities
- Make content updates to the department website and intranet using the Drupal content management system
- Assist in developing digital strategies to deliver the department’s information to consumers, industries, and other audiences using the available platforms
- Assist with developing content or graphics for the website
- Assist with management of the department’s intranet site
What are the qualifications for the position? - Exceptional creativity and strong graphic design skills
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite, Photoshop, and other relevant professional design programs
- Organized and detail-oriented work ethic
- Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner
- Experience managing and updating content in a content-managed web environment
- Experience managing and updating content on major social media platforms
- Knowledge of basic photography/videography skills
- Must be able to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Highly motivated to learn, a self-starter and capable of working independently
Areas of qualifying experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, journalism, communications, or a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
Preferred Qualifications: - Other communication skills such as writing, editing, photography, etc., are pluses
