    As a Security Electronics Technician, you will have the opportunity to build for a stronger tomorrow by applying your diverse background, education, and work experiences to the technical support and management of various electronics systems related to security, fire, and video surveillance/closed-circuit television (CCTV) statewide. This person will assist the Security Unit Manager and Security Team to ensure initiatives align with project objectives and supports the mission and vision of FMDC.     This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Security Unit. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

    • Prioritize excellent customer service for wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
    • Travel to facilities statewide to install, maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of security and/or safety systems such as fire alarm monitoring systems, network camera systems, access control systems, and more.
    • Analyze and interpret complex technical documents, such as wiring diagrams, schematics, training manuals, and written/verbal instructions to troubleshoot and translate into plain language to provide resolutions.
    • Assist in the preparation and implementation of policies and procedures relating to safety and security, translating guidance into actionable items.
    • Assist in coordination, facilitation, and promotion of safety and security programs, such as equipment demonstrations and training programs.
    • Assist in research, audit, and assessment of facilities for both internal and external security threats and risks.
    • Receive general supervision from a designated security supervisor and carry out assigned responsibilities independently within established guidelines.
    • Provide coverage after hours and/or for emergency purposes to ensure clerical, administrative, security, safety, and other related tasks are properly addressed for team members and the public to conduct state business.
    • Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead with integrity in a manner that inspires trust and builds positive rapport with a diverse group of stakeholders and the public.
    • Ability to manage numerous time-sensitive projects independently or as part of a team using procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to the trade or system.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical reference materials such as blueprints, floor plans, site plans, maps, and electrical diagrams, including schematic, wiring, block, and pictorial.
    • Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret, and apply complex technical documentation, such as wiring diagrams, schematics, training manuals, and written/verbal instructions in order to solve problems and provide guidance and direction for resolution.
    • 2-4 years of related experience in electronics or systems management such as fire alarm, security, public address/intercoms, corporate security, information technology services, and/or associated fields. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
    • Experience with Sonitrol, Lenel, P2000, Gallagher, and other security systems, or industry equivalent systems preferred.
    • Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of trade areas. (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, but OA-FMDC can provide training once hired if needed.)
    • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from Missouri or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.

    *This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces. This list is not all inclusive, but a general representation of duties that may be encountered in this position, however other duties may be assigned contingent upon business needs. Please note, this position is considered a “Category 2” under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the incumbent will be compensated for overtime (hours actually worked over forty hours in a workweek) at the rate of time and one-half.
