The Office of Veterans Affairs (VA) is recruiting for is recruiting for a Veteran Service Officer Technician who perform administrative clerical support work involving a variety of complex programs and services within the department. Incumbents will provide support with case management and claims processes, interpreting and explaining program regulations, policies and procedures, explaining program benefits and resources, and p repares necessary correspondence and reports; maintains records.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Accreditation: Incumbents must also obtain California Department of Veterans Affairs ( CALVET ) accreditation within eighteen (18) months of hire.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENT:
EXPERIENCE
Must possess two (2) years of full-time equivalent work experience performing complex clerical tasks in an office environment. Experience may be comparable to duties performed that is non-routine in nature and requires exercising independent decision making related to duties performed for case management, determining eligibility and/or providing services.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Senior Office Assistant (OAIII) classification and above. Note: Retail sales and food service experience is not qualifying.
All work experience must be clearly detailed and demonstrated on the application AND supplemental questionnaire to ensure qualifications are properly considered (resumes are not reviewed). All information must be current and up to date.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, time management and computer skills. VA benefits and case management experience is highly desired.
Candidates who exhibit strong integrity, loyalty and commitment to the job, empathy towards others, and who demonstrate strong active listening and communication skills is highly desired.
