Licensed clinicians in this division perform a variety of regulatory mandates, including, but not limited to the following: reviewing clinical documentation for services provided to adults and children with severe mental or emotional disorders to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal documentation requirements as outlined by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS); conducting concurrent review for authorizations of adult and youth crisis residential and adult residential treatment services; conducting prior authorization for an array of adult and children's outpatient specialty mental health services; working the grievances, appeals and state hearing requests received for the San Bernardino County behavioral health system of care; addressing second opinions, change of provider requests and continuity of care requests; answering phone calls addressed for clinical staff from the public via the 24/7 Access Line; and working with clients, San Bernardino County managed care plans and DBH programs regarding the need to step up to specialty mental health services.
