The Logistics position serves as a member of the Missouri - 1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (MO-1 DMAT). This position works for the Logistics Section. This position carries out a full range of logistics duties as assigned by the logistic section. This position reports to the Logistics Section Chief.
Job Description: - Coordinated with the Logistics Section Chief (LSC) to obtain necessary space for the MO - 1 DMAT response team’s operations.
- Identifies the appropriate source of supply and carries out the acquisition process as determined by the LSC.
- Contacts team personnel to determine the status of supplies and immediate needs to sustain acceptable level of effectiveness. Notes shortages and determines why they exist.
- Reports status of stock levels and shortages to the supervisor on a regular basis along with recommendations for corrective action and recommends possible substitutions.
- Sets up and ensures all facilities, services, and equipment are properly functioning.
- Prepares detailed status reports for the supervisor.
- Orders and receives equipment and supplies to meet anticipated needs in coordination with the LSC.
- Assures that equipment and supplies are safely secured and maintained in an acceptable state of readiness for immediate distribution and use.
- Prepares detailed status reports for the supervisor and assists with inventory and maintenance of team equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - One year of specialized experience directly related to the MO - 1 DMAT position equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
- Experience in basic accounting, bookkeeping, and accounts payable/receivable practices.
- Completion of NIMS courses: ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-700 and ICS-800
Knowledge, Skill & Abilities: - Knowledge of the NIMS Incident Command System.
- Knowledge of other disaster response organizations and their missions, i.e., FEMA, Red Cross, Non-Governmental Organizations, etc. for the purpose of exchanging disaster-related information.
- Knowledge of the MO - 1 DMAT functions, operations, strategy, and safety considerations.
- Knowledge of the Federal Response Plan and the Missouri Emergency Operations Plan.
- Comprehensive knowledge of supply and warehouse management operations.
- Knowledge to provide the organization with analytical services that are applied in conducting studies to improve the effectiveness of logistics and supply management processes.
- Skill in critical thinking processes.
- Skill in oral and written communication in order to prepare briefings, present proposals and provide advice, guidance and assistance.
- Skill in dealing with people and organizations in a diplomatic manner.
- Ability to establish the necessary relationships with outside medical and mortuary services organizations in order to provide for efficient operations.
- Ability to keep abreast of developments both within the organization and in outside arenas affecting the organization as a whole (disaster medicine, public health, and disaster response/relief supply and equipment operations).
- Ability to use a computer to store, retrieve and compile data and prepare reports
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, scanner, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone system, etc.
- Ability to effectively organize and plan during crisis situations.
Physical Requirements: - Occasional heavy lifting/moving patients and objects up to 80 lbs.
- Long periods of work without rest: up to 12 hours.
- Long periods of walking, standing, stooping, reaching, bending, etc. on uneven surfaces.
- Working in a variety of climatic conditions and extreme weather.
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly for upwards of 12 hours.
- Ability to work in an austere environment.
