    The System Administrator role will be responsible for a wide range of applications and computing systems. They will provide outstanding customer service and technical guidance to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support the State of Missouri’s core organizational functions and websites. The Systems Administrators will assist those within the team. An Administrator at this level will be responsible for systems that are far-reaching and span across the enterprise, providing leadership and project management for technology upgrades. A System Administrator must be innovative, well organized, self-motivated, a team player, and enjoy a challenge. This position will provide in-depth technical knowledge and support for business application systems to ensure they are well managed, supported, monitored, upgraded, and maintained to provide optimal performance, reliability, and availability.

    This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the State Data Center (SDC).

    • Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance and troubleshooting of assigned technologies.
    • Ensure that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications meet enterprise and security standards.
    • Proactively monitor and report performance and utilization of assigned technologies.
    • Troubleshoot software and/or hardware issues/failures.
    • Resolve alerts and perform remediation activities.
    • Manage problems or escalate tickets and tasks from systems/software owners.
    • Provides input into infrastructure architecture designs.
    • Participates in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises.
    • General Windows Server Administration and Application Server Administration.
    • General Linux RHEL Administration and Application Server Administration.
    • Management and configuration of Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server), and .NET Web applications on a web server environment.
    • Management and configuration of Enterprise Scheduling.
    • Management and Configuration of Batch processes.
    • Manage and configure of AD Audit system.


    • Knowledge and experience with Windows and/or Linux server operating systems.
    • Knowledge and experience with Enterprise scheduling tools.
    • Knowledge and experience with batch processes.
    • Knowledge and experience with Audit tools.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel.
    • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong communication and analytical skills (written & verbal).
    • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
    • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
    • Self-motivated/directed to handle multiple tasks and projects with minimal direction.
    • Ability to quickly learn new systems and adapt to new technologies.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills.
    • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work demands.
    • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.

    Knowledge of operating systems and applications. Knowledge of cybersecurity issues and preventative methods. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software. Ability to research, collect, and analyze network performance.
