The JobThe
Purchasing Department, Printing Services Division, is recruiting for a
Graphics Technician who prepares copy and graphic materials for digital, offset, and wide-format printing; ensures accurate file setup, resolution, and color settings for digital output; and performs quality control checks, preflight reviews, and collaborates with production teams to ensure files are print-ready and meet job specifications.
Essential functions of this classification are to: - Create mail merge documents from Excel files using Adobe Illustrator.
- Fix design files by adding bleeds, preflighting files for print readiness, and editing business card contact information.
- Ensure all design files meet print production standards and client specifications.
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe Suite applications effectively.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Adobe Suite tools to enhance workflow and productivity.
- Maintain detailed records of previous print projects for easy reference and quality assurance.
- Organize and archive design files systematically for efficient retrieval.
- Provide training sessions for clients to familiarize them with storefront software.
- Offer ongoing support to clients to ensure effective use of the software.
- Assist with answering office calls and responding to office emails professionally and promptly.
- Provide vacation relief coverage as needed to support office operations.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with the Adobe Suite.
- Strong understanding of print production processes and file preparation.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication and training abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: EXPERIENCE Must possess one (1) year of full-time equivalent paid or formal internship experience performing design and layout using graphic design software and techniques.
EDUCATION Must possess fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed coursework in graphic design/computer graphics
or successful completion of a certificate in graphics/computer graphics technology.

Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have paid work experience working in a print shop environment. Use of computer software experience in a Microsoft PC environment is also highly desirable. Experience in a centralized, public sector purchasing department is highly desired.
