    Barber/Cosmetologist

    St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - North and South Campuses

    Semi-Monthly Salary: $1,554.56 / Annual Salary $37,309.44

    Description:

    • St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center is seeking a professional Stylist to join our Central Activity Therapy team! The FTC Barber/Cosmetologist will have responsibilities at both FTC-S and FTC-N. Schedule would likely be Monday-Thursday at the South Campus and Fridays at the North Campus.

    • St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center provides services to a population primarily comprised of adults 18 years and older who are recovering from a serious and persistent mental illness for which they were criminally committed. There are 180 clients at the South Campus and 75 clients at the North Campus.

    • Individual will provide hair cutting, coloring, and styling to a variety of individuals with different hair types and textures (both short and long, men and woman, fine and curly hair)

    o Individual will provide basic hair services (haircuts, beard trims, washing, and styling) to both FTC North and South.

    o Individual will provide Special Hair Services (Permanents/Curls, Relaxers, and Colors) to approved clients of FTC-South.

    • Individual will document date of service, name of client, client location, service type, length of service, and additional notes as needed.

    • Individual will utilize effective communication with clients and with staff (i.e. consultations of needs/preferences/concerns, managing emails and outlook calendar, etc.)

    • Individual will maintain equipment to meet infection control standards. Individual is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in their work area. Individual is responsible for sanitizing and properly maintaining the tools and equipment. Individual is responsible for working with the Director and Assistant Director of Rehabilitation Services for ordering new equipment as needed.

    • Individual will maintain a binder of colors and styles for clients to look through to help them understand their choices, describe, and decide what services they would like. This binder will be updated regularly.

    • Individual will attend workshops, training sessions, and trade shows to enhance their skills and knowledge and to upkeep licensure.

    • Individual may teach and supervise client workers in the barber/beauty shop space.

    • A current Beautician, Barber, and/or Cosmetology license required
