    This position will be located at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park, 800 Guy Park Drive, Wildwood, Mo. 63005. Work shifts will vary according to facility demands and will include working a minimum of two weekends per month in the on-season and some holidays in the both the on and off season.

    • Assist with visitor center operations, campground management, grounds keeping, maintenance/repair and resource stewardship functions in both the on and off season.
    • Assist with the accounts payable functions for the facility, submitting invoices, and reconciling expenditures.
    • Assist with administrative functions including annual budget requests, tracking and managing budget allocations, project recommendations, bidding and purchasing materials and services, and revenue management.
    • Assist with overseeing the work and behavior of seasonal, volunteer, including the ability to mentor and coach staff.
    • Assist in planning and coordinating special events, group outings, and special program requests with a variety of stakeholder
    • Work as a liaison between the facility and other entities in the surrounding areas
    • Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the facility.
    • Act in the absence of the Park Superintendent and/or Assistant Park Superintendent, independently make sound decisions and directing staff as needed.

    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Biology, Fisheries, Natural Sciences, Business or Public Administration, or related field (Experience involving management, supervision, and active participation in various activities involving interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance, and enhancement of state parks and historic sites may substitute for the required education.)

    Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.

    Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

    Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements

    • Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.

    • Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must work a minimum of two weekends a month from April 1 through October 31 with occasional weekend work in the off season.

    • Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

    • Must be able to work in all weather extremes.

    • Must be able to perform work that may be physically demanding.
