Pay Grade: Summer Intern
Starting Pay:$20/ hour (Undergraduate student); $24/ hour (Graduate student)
Departmental Mission Statement: The Massachusetts Probation Service’s mission is to increase community safety, reduce recidivism, contribute to the fair and equitable administration of justice, support victims and survivors, and assist individuals and families in achieving long-term positive change.
The Office of Community Corrections (OCC) is the Massachusetts Probation Service’s intermediate sanction department. The OCC’s mission is to establish intermediate sanctions which offer a continuum of sanctions and services for probation, parole, sheriffs, and the Department of Correction.

Position Summary: The intern, under the supervision and guidance of the OCC, will work on a variety of assignments that will involve the administration of data from the Community Justice Support Centers and Community Service Program. The internshould be able toprovide a broad range of skilled administrative and technical support. Intern’s daily duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in the timely and accurate collection, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of statistical data on case management and performance metrics
- Maintain the database for the OCC program utilization
- Prepare and disseminate reports related to performance metrics
- Work alongside the OCC Performance Analyst
- Develop marketing material and communications
Minimum Requirements: - Working towards a bachelor’s degree (or graduate degree, etc.) from an accredited college or university, concentration in Research or Criminal Justice (preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of case management or case processing systems
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with persons at all levels, including judges and other officials, and to maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
