    Duties Description

    The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Finger Lakes Region is seeking an incumbent at this location will oversee the office operations related to the delivery of support services to the public that involve Fillmore Glen State Park and Long Point State Park.

    The incumbent will be required to assign, review, train and evaluate the work of lower-level employees; prepare schedules, seasonal payroll, and various clerical activities and responsibilities of seasonal staff hiring; monitor and oversee fee collection, money banks, auditing; control access to parking to and from park facilities during peak periods, register campers and boaters, and issue permits. Assist in emergency situations by directing staff, communicating and assisting park Manager and emergency personnel as needed, and guiding and assisting patrons to minimize potential problems. Incumbent will also be called on to answer routine questions and handle complaints from park patrons, be able to explain park rules and regulations and be able to process written information required to meet patron’s needs. Incumbent occasionally assists with groundskeeping and cleaning of office and restrooms.

    The incumbent must also adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct Policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in the performance of daily tasks.

    OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
    • Must be able to assist in emergency situations as needed.
    • Weekend/Holiday work will be required.

    State parks and historic sites are staffed by a core of permanent employees who work year-round to maintain these precious resources.
