Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Why you’ll love this position: As part of the Office of Quality Schools, the Grants and Resources unit supports the collaborative work that the Department and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) engage in to serve educationally disadvantaged, English language learning, gifted, homeless, immigrant, migrant and refugee students, as well as students in low performing buildings. The unit provides grant opportunities and technical assistance for LEAs as required by state and federal law.
- Coordinates the preparation and submission of state plans and applications to be submitted to funding sources under federal education statutes which are administered by the Office of Quality Schools.
- Supervises the implementation of federal educational programs by sections within the Office of Quality Schools responsible for direct administration of the programs.
- Interprets state and federal education regulations and guidelines as applied in local school districts.
- Represents the interests of federal educational programs on intradepartmental and interdepartmental task forces and committees.
- Cooperates with other divisions in the Department in implementing Department policies and priorities.
- Performs related work at the request of the Assistant Commissioner for Office of Quality Schools or the Commissioner of Education.
- Supervises professional and support staff in a cohesive working group.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an academic discipline, elementary or secondary education, or closely related field. Understanding of and experience with the federal Elementary and Secondary Act.
OR - Four years of progressively responsible experience in the field of education administration, including supervisory experience. Understanding of and experience with the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
