  • Job Description

    Note for internal applicants: Successful candidates already at rates above the posted salary will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine final salary outcome.

    The district engineer supervises all operations, design, and support activities in a district.

    A day in the life:

    • Partners with cities, counties, and other organizations involved with transportation to address the needs of Missourians.
    • Develops and delivers programs including identifying, prioritizing and constructing transportation improvements.
    • Oversees district work plan and budget.
    • Improves safety for customers and employees using our transportation facilities.
    • Responds to public, legislators, community leaders, and city/county officials on transportation needs and operations.


    What you'll need for success:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
    • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri
    • Over nine years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
    • Over five years of progressively responsible management experience.


    Special working conditions and job characteristics:

    • Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel.
