The
Innovation and Technology Department isrecruiting for
Communication Technicians II for the
Telecommunication Services Division . This is the journey level position characterized by responsibility for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment, electronics, and network equipment to integrate all VoIP, PBX, audio, security, automation, and low voltage electronics countywide.
Incumbents in this class are expected to have broad general knowledge of electronics and considerable skill in the area of Telephony.

Click the link for additional details: Benefits by Occupation Unit - Technical & Inspection CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Availability: Employees are subject to On-Call duties, 24-hour call back, and may be asked to work during unusual hours.
Working Conditions: Employees may be asked to work in inclement weather and other adverse circumstances. Duties may include working in confined spaces and climbing ladders to install, inspect, and maintain equipment.

Minimum Requirements REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience, within the last five (5) years, installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications, electronics, PBX's, VoIP, audio, automation, copper infrastructures, fiber optics and low voltage electronics.
-AND-
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed post-high school technical coursework in electronics or a closely related field OR 300 hours of classroom instruction in the same areas. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application if a degree has not been conferred in telecommunications, electronics, or a closely related field.
Substitution: An additional one (1) year of experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills; be a team player with the ability to achieve goals through influence, collaboration, and cooperation; and possess strong leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Education in electronics or communication technology, along with experience in Cisco or Nortel/Avaya while currently working in the industry is highly desirable.
Working experience in Telephony and Data Infrastructures, Cisco VoIP, Electronics is desired.
