    This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Operations Team. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

    What you’ll do:

    • Prioritize excellent customer service for a wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
    • Perform, supervise, and ensure quality of semi-skilled trades work relating but not limited to heavy equipment and machinery operation; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); electronics; carpentry; concrete and masonry; welding; plumbing; and/or painting. (Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.)
    • Provide assistance in more complex projects and supervision of vocational-level employees, including hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and more.
    • Plan, supervise, and ensure quality of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings, facilities vehicles, and equipment.
    • Plan, supervise, and ensure quality of the maintenance of grounds for buildings overseen through horticultural care, miscellaneous debris and trash disposal, snow removal, and salt application.
    • Answer emergency calls and travel to other facilities (within a 2-hour radius) to provide occasional assistance.
    • Ensure facilities remain in compliance with agency programmatic requirements.
    • Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
    • Prioritize and manage purchasing requests, monthly administrative programs, time and leave usage, facility coverage, and training program compliance.


    All you need for success:

    • Ability to plan, manage, and direct numerous time-sensitive projects independently or as part of a team using procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to a specialized trade.
    • 2-4 years of relevant experience in semi-skilled work. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
    • Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of all trade areas.
    • Ability to discern skill set needed for projects and whether it can be completed in-house or by a contractor.
    • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from Missouri or adjacent state if reside outside of Missouri.
    • Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of all trade areas.
    • OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification preferred.

    *This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces. This list is not all inclusive, but a general representation of duties that may be encountered in this position, however other duties may be assigned contingent upon business needs. Please note, this position is considered a “Category 1” under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the incumbent will be compensated for overtime (hours actually worked over forty hours in a workweek) at the rate equal to time worked.
