Why you’ll love this position:This is a Systems Administration Specialist position that assists in the support of the State Data Center computer room and the connected support systems of the environment for the State of Missouri. This position will also assist in the cabling, electrical, cooling, and power infrastructure requirements that are necessary to support the Enterprise Server, Network Operations, and Operating System teams that maintain the State Data Center systems.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the State Data Center (SDC).

- Order, install, and maintain cabling infrastructure within the IT departments of ITSD, the Data Center proper, and the Disaster Recovery alternate site.
- Manage the ordering for power, cable, UPS, PDUs, wiring, and supplies necessary for the operational needs within the State Data Center.
- Monitor and escalate issues or requests required for the functioning of the environmental and electrical systems in the State Data Center.
- Set up and maintain server cabinet infrastructure and cable trays within the SDC computer room and the DR alternate site.
- Ensure the data center and UPS rooms are properly maintained, handling tile cutouts and blocking hot/cold aisles for ventilation and airflow requirements, while keeping rooms clean and free of becoming common storage areas.
- Security escort for vendors that come into and perform work for the State Data Center in accordance with Data Center security policies.
- SDC liaison contact to work with vendors/shippers for the delivery of equipment and coordination with the teams, plus ensure floor covering is in use for heavy equipment drops in the data center.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving.
- Communicate complex work and issues that arise with Customers and technical teams.
- Special projects, presentations, training, reports, and other duties as assigned.
- Ability to learn new skills, to interpret and apply standards, policies, procedures, and understand technical documentation.
- Ability to work with a team to develop and implement procedures and best practices.
- Ability to think critically and provide recommended solutions to issues.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
- Experience/Knowledge in network environments and electrical cabling is desired but not required.
- Experience/Knowledge working with hands and at a skilled trades is recommended.
