    This full-time position will be domiciled at 112 Plaza Drive, Sikeston, MO. The regular work schedule will be 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Friday and Saturday off. On-Call and occasional coverage on other shifts may be necessary at times to meet the needs of the individuals supported by SEMORS.

    • Supervises Crisis Behavior staff providing direct support to crisis consumers at facility.
    • Holds Engage meetings, approves time off requests, vacation requests, and day trades.
    • Observes behavior technicians in homes providing coaching and counseling in behavior intervention strategies.
    • Serves as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
    • Provides recommendations to management staff on training needs of behavior technician staff.
    • Assists Behavior Analysts with functional behavior assessments (FBAs) or functional analyses (FAs) to determine the functions of an individual's challenging behaviors and the likely antecedents that precede them.
    • Collaborates with individuals from multiple disciplines (direct care, habilitation, nursing, psychiatry, etc.)
    • Trains staff to implement strategies outlined in BSPs, Safety crisis Plans, and other behavioral documents, or in systems such as Safety-care upon receiving trainer certification.
    • Utilizes a behavioral skills training approach with staff, including presenting verbal and written information, demonstrating and modeling skills, role-playing scenarios, observing staff demonstrating skills, and providing feedback to staff on their performance.
    • Assists Behavior Analysts in creating reinforcement or incentive systems for use with individuals that require additional supports, trains staff in their usage, and ensures that individuals have access to earned reinforcers.
    • Conducts regular behavioral observations of individuals at SEMORS and fidelity checks on staff.
    • Attends and participates in crisis calls, best practice (psychiatry) meetings, transition meetings, and other meetings as requested.
    • Assist interdisciplinary team to draft behavioral restrictions and ensures that they are presented to the due process committee and provides on-going monitoring so that restrictions can be lifted when expectations are met.
    • Assists in interventions as appropriate.
    • Assists in scheduling and other supervisory duties such as being in on-call rotation for the crisis home.
    • Providing positive behavioral support guided by basic behavioral principles for clients supported in a State Operated Crisis Program.
    • Always treat the consumer with dignity and respect.
    • Ensure accurate completion of all required documentation on assigned shift. (i.e., staff observation notes, behavioral data sheets, shift communication reports, General Event Reports etc.). Documentation should be clear and specifically address objective observations made regarding desirable and undesirable behaviors and physical conditions of consumers throughout the assigned shift.
    • Read, learn, and implement person-centered plans and behavior support plans for multiple individuals at one time, with the possibility for a high turnover of clients including new individuals entering and exiting crisis services.
    • Responds to crisis situations at any hour of the shift.
    • Implements interventions established by the behavior professional to keep all individuals safe including the use of physical restraint or personal protective equipment when needed.
    • Communicates clearly and professionally in both written and oral forms with other team members and actively participates in team meetings as needed
    • Notifies behavior professional of any changes in behavior.
    • Maintains appropriate professional and therapeutic boundaries with consumers and co-workers.
    • Performs other related work as assigned.
    • Observe clients, collect data and record behavior and interactions into behavioral tracking system for summarization and analysis.
    • Monitor and assist in implementation of treatment plans and strategies as written and provide feedback on the effectiveness of supports provided.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
    • Accompany clients to medical appointments, community outings and other activities. Actively participate in activities and outings with individual supported while also utilizing state vehicles to transport clients to these appointments and activities.
    • Requires heavy lifting and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Keeps current on technology necessary for performing job duties.
    • Utilizes state time and property in an appropriate manner and to the benefit of the department, while minimizing waste and inefficiencies and as outlined by policy and/or DORs; does not steal state property or the property of others.
    • Accountable for reading, staying abreast of and following all current department DORs/policies/procedures and the employee handbook.
    • Reports immediately observed or suspected neglect, physical, sexual, or verbal abuse.
    • Respond appropriately to all emergency situations.
    • Accepts responsibility for all assigned tasks; seeks out, accepts and acts upon constructive criticism and feedback.
    • Does not participate in spreading rumors or disrupting the workplace by speaking or writing negatively about others.
    • Does not make false statements which slander officials, supervisors, or employees
    • Does not use alcohol or other unauthorized substances while on duty or on facility premises.
    • Does not report for duty under the influence of alcohol or impaired by any legal or illegal substances.
    • Looks for opportunities to improve processes that lead to reduced costs and/or greater efficiencies.
    • Makes supervisor aware of any areas additional training or information is needed in order to successfully meet performance expectations.
    • Accepts organizational change and demonstrates flexibility in adapting to change.
    • Accepts work assignments and direction from the supervisor, manager, and division director in a professional manner; reports any known obstacles to the completion of work assignments; asks for direction if priorities are unclear.
    • Keeps supervisor informed of the progress of assignments; meets prescribed deadlines as assigned including approved training within prescribed timelines.
    • Does not leave duty station when it would leave consumers unsupervised.
    • Does not sleep while on duty.
    • Follows chain of command.
    • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; schedules sick and annual leave responsibly; arrives to work on time, returns from lunch on time and minimizes unscheduled absences.


    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain Level One Medication Aide certification within one (1) month of assignment, or longer if training by facility is not made available during that time.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and as necessary, drive during the day or night, in rural highway or metro conditions to transport individuals to a variety of locations for appointments, employment, leisure or vacations.
    • Possess adequate vision to read written material.
    • Possess adequate hearing
    • Ability to physically intervene to maintain safety.
    • Possess physical stamina required to provide physical assistance to clients and to respond in emergency situations which may require the ability to walk, run, sit, stand and kneel, to stand or walk for an extended period of time, lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs, ability to work both indoor and outdoor in variable weather conditions.
    • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; arrive to work on time, returns from lunch on time and minimizes unscheduled absences.
    • Possess knowledge of and the ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office programs, including email, Word and Excel.
