    Description

    The Casework Supervisor performs supervisory, administrative, and professional correction work overseeing the supervision of juveniles sentenced to detention by the courts. Work involves supervising activities of juvenile correction professionals to ensure proper case management of juvenile detainees and participating in formal hearings held to determine proper placement of juveniles. Employee is also responsible for managing assigned cases of individuals assigned to probation. Work also involves a variety of administrative functions, including preparing various reports and records, approving contracts with outside counseling professionals, and performing personnel administration functions affecting subordinates.

    Examples of Duties

    Supervises field probation officers, assistants, and interns; assigns case loads to field probation officers; assigns work schedules to field officers, assistants, and interns.
    Reviews and signs case plans, social histories, social history addendums, pre-trial recommendations, and approves directives to apprehend.
    Prepares and participates in administrative case staffing; attends and participates in Field Supervisor meetings; attends and participating in disciplinary staffing.
    Schedules and conducts job interviews for field services.
    Prepares probation review hearing docket and attends the court hearings.
    Determines case assignments and monitors case progress; conducts employee evaluations as necessary.
    Performs other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in related field required for this position.

    Minimum three years of experience in a related field required; equivalent education can be substituted for experience requirements.

    Certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer by the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission required.
    Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas driver's license within 90 days.

    Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check.
