    This full-time position will be located at 2351 Kanell Blvd, Poplar Bluff, MO. 63901. Regular work schedule will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with alternating every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. Occasional coverage on other shifts may be necessary at times to meet the needs of the facility.

    • Providing positive behavioral support guided by basic behavioral principles for clients supported in a State Operated Program.
    • Always treat the consumer with dignity and respect.
    • Assists professional staff in the completion of behavior analytic data collection and assessments for clients experiencing behavioral difficulty and in the development of behavior support plans.
    • Teach a person skills identified in their individual support plan and behavioral support plan which may include but are not limited to coping skills, self-management strategies, functional communication training, as well as daily living skills (hygiene, grooming, social interactions, meal preparation, food purchases, housekeeping, laundry, dressing, bathing, toileting, feeding, etc.)
    • Ensure accurate completion of all required documentation on assigned shift. (i.e., staff observation notes, behavioral data sheets, shift communication reports, General Event Reports etc.). Documentation should be clear and specifically address objective observations made regarding desirable and undesirable behaviors and physical conditions of consumers throughout the assigned shift.
    • Perform and record bedside nursing activities including taking and recording consumer’s temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, urine samples, etc. Recognize health problems and seek immediate assistance.
    • Assists in providing basic health care for clients including administering medication after certification by facility officials.
    • As needed to support clients, assist in personal care such as meals, bathing and grooming.
    • Provide vigilant oversight of the individual’s surroundings as described in their support plan in order to maintain a safe environment
    • Read, learn, and implement person-centered plans and behavior support plans for multiple individuals at one time, with the possibility for a high turnover of clients including new individuals entering and exiting crisis services.
    • Assist in training family members, service providers, direct care staff and other stakeholders in the community on implementation of behavioral interventions developed for clients in crisis.
    • Assist in training facility staff on implementation of behavioral interventions developed for clients in a residential program.
    • Responds to crisis situations at any hour of the shift.
    • Implements interventions established by the behavior professional to keep all individuals safe including the use of physical restraint or personal protective equipment when needed.
    • Communicates clearly and professionally in both written and oral forms with other team members and actively participates it team meetings as needed
    • Notifies behavior professional of any changes in behavior and of any signs of abuse or neglect.
    • Maintains appropriate professional and therapeutic boundaries with consumers and co-workers.
    • Lifts and moves consumers with physical disabilities for positioning, toileting, showering, transferring, etc. as needed. Assist with transporting as needed.
    • Observe clients, collect data and record behavior and interactions into behavioral tracking system for summarization and analysis.
    • Monitor and assist in implementation of treatment plans and strategies as written and provide feedback on the effectiveness of supports provided.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for consumer care and treatment activities.
    • Accompany consumers to medical appointments, community outings and other activities. Actively participate in activities and outings with individual supported.
    • Requires heavy lifting up to fifty (50) pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Performs other related work as assigned.
    • Employees are required to follow their assigned schedule, which may include working on weekends and holidays, on any assigned shift, and are expected to participate in the mandatory holdover policy for position classification when required.



    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and as necessary, drive during the day or night, in rural, highway, or metro conditions to transport individuals to a variety of locations for appointment, employment, leisure or vacations.
    • Possess adequate vision to read written material.
    • Possess adequate hearing.
    • Ability to physically intervene to maintain safety.
    • Possess physical stamina required to provide physical assistance to clients and to respond in emergency situations which may require the ability to walk, run, sit, stand and kneel, to stand or walk for an extended period of time, lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs, ability to work both indoor and outdoor in variable weather conditions.
    • Obtain and maintain all required trainings including First Aid, CPR, Safety Care, Advanced Safety Care, and all other trainings assigned.
    • Behavioral Support Training must be successfully completed within three months of hire, or longer if training is not made available by facility.
    • 1 year of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
    • Must be able to successfully pass Level One Medication Aide Certification within one (1) month of assignment, or longer if training by facility is not made available during that time
