    The Job

    This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special District employees who hold a regular, intern, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, or Work Experience Program (WEX) position. Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to 6 months from the end of their assignment.

    San Bernardino County is recruiting for Administrative Supervisors I to oversee a medium to large staff who provide general administrative support and make procedural recommendations and program analysis, conduct special studies and research that rely on data analysis and interpretation providing justification for budget recommendation. The incumbent will prepare and monitor budget and/or financial operations; oversee contract/grant applications, research the availability and requirements. Duties may also include project management in areas such as new construction, remodels, future facility planning, ongoing operations, lease review, and the development of data analytic projects.

    This position is used throughout the County, as well as in the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Special Districts Departments; the list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur. Applicants will be asked to indicate their availability and preference for referral to the different agencies in the Supplemental Questionnaire.

    The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Special Districts Department are separate entities from San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan(s).     Minimum Requirements

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Option 1 CONTRACTS/ORGANIZATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
    Eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent professional level administrative experience performing analytical duties as a primary job function in the areas of contracts, bid/proposal, or grant management.
    Option 2
    FISCAL/BUDGET EXPERIENCE:

    Eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent professional level administrative experience performing analytical duties as the primary job function in the areas of budget/fiscal management, financial analysis and/or accounting.
    Option 3
    PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

    Two (2) years of full-time professional-level experience with primary responsibility for analyzing, interpreting and making recommendations to management in a combination of the following areas: Budget/Financial Analysis; Requests for Proposals/Contracts; Analysis and Interpretation of Quantitative Data; Facilities Planning/Property Management; Planning; Grants Management; Organizational Analysis; or Project Management.
    REQUIRED LEAD/SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE One (1) year of lead or supervising work experience over a support services staff. REQUIRED EDUCATION A completed bachelor's degree in Public/Business Administration, Behavioral/Social Science, or other relevant field of study.

    Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. (Must be attached if applicable.)

    NOTE: All work experience must be clearly detailed and demonstrated on the application AND supplemental questionnaire to ensure qualifications are properly considered ( resumes are not reviewed ). All information must be current and up to date.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be proficient in written/oral communication; have strong research and analytical skills; and have demonstrated leadership ability, which included three (3) years of lead worker experience overseeing professional staff and conducting complex analysis/making recommendations in one or more of the required fields. A Master's degree in a qualifying field is preferred.
