The Job
San Bernardino County Libraries are highly interactive and fast-paced customer service environments. The Twentynine Palms Branch Library is hiring for a Librarian I to serve as a branch manager who evaluates branch services and community needs, maintain collections, and assist patrons. Librarian I also perform specialized program functions such as collection development, youth services, literacy services and other related professional functions.
Note: The Library System has 32 branches throughout the County. This recruitment is for the Twentynine Palms branch only . If you are not interested in employment in Twentynine Palms, you should not apply at this time.

FUTURE SALARY INCREASES
3% Effective February 22, 2025**
**Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Proposition 172 Sales Tax Collections performance.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Schedule: These positions require regular weekend and evening work schedules.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.
Travel: Travel throughout San Bernardino County may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation, and must be maintained throughout employment.
Physical Requirements: Physical requirements of the position include the following: frequent reaching and bending; continuous walking and standing; continuous pushing and pulling; constant lifting of materials and books up to 25 pounds and frequent lifting up to 75 pounds.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the ONE (1) of required options.
OPTION 1:
EDUCATION: A completed Bachelor Degree or 120 semester units (180 quarter units) from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent lead worker or supervisory experience in a library, retail, educational or customer service related industry.
OPTION 2:
EDUCATION: A completed Associate Degree or 60 semester units (90 quarter units) from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent lead worker or supervisory experience in a library, retail, educational or customer service related industry.
Qualifying degrees must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. In addition, degrees completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at the college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving youth, experience creating, implementing, and monitoring a wide array of programs for children up to 14 years of age, and strong leadership and oral communication skills. A Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) is highly desirable.
