Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Why you’ll love this position: The vision of the School Counseling Staff is to work with schools to help ensure that each school has a fully implemented comprehensive school counseling program that supports the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students through the delivery of counseling curriculum, individual student planning, and responsive services. The program is managed and evaluated through system support activities that also support the on-going mission of the school.
- Develop and promote the implementation of the Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program.
- Coordinate and facilitate the Comprehensive School Counseling State Advisory Council.
- Coordinate and facilitate the Counselor Educator meetings.
- Coordinate and facilitate the scope of work of the school counseling writing team.
- Collaborate with DESE CTE Directors, Area Career Center Directors, postsecondary institutions, military and business and industry to provide K-12 career education guidance/best practice to school districts.
- Oversee state and federal Programs of Study updates.
- Oversee with the Individual Career and Academic Plan updates.
- Serve as Missouri School Counselor Association liaison.
- Serve as Department of Higher Education and Department of Economic Development liaison.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the state CTE Advisory Committee.
- Assist in coordinating and facilitating the New Counselor Institute.
- Develop budget allocations request to address the needs of the section.
- Create and deliver regional and statewide professional development opportunities.
- Provide technical assistance to Local Education Agencies relative to program improvement.
- Assist with legislative mandates as they relate to the work of the school counseling section.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, human services or related field.
OR - Four years’ experience in student/career services, college admissions, or related field.
OR - Two or more years of successful experience as a school counselor.
