    POSITION OVERVIEW

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    The purpose of the Terminal Management - Custodial Services section is to WOW passengers through a “can do” attitude and respond quickly to meet and exceed their expectations by maintaining facilities that are worthy of Skytrax 5-star ratings in cleanliness, appearance and function.

    The Custodian Leader under the direct supervision of the Airport Operations Supervisor -Custodial, supervises the daily cleaning and maintenance operations. This position is a working position that serves as a mentor and role model to frontline team members, while gaining exposure and experience to the roles and responsibilities of an airport supervisor. “Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.”

    The Custodian Lead duties will include but are not limited to:

    • Supervises general cleaning duties such as carpet vacuuming, floor stripping, waxing and buffing.
    • Oversees the performance of minor maintenance and repairs to building furniture and cleaning machinery.
    • Sets up building facilities for special events such as meetings, conventions, exhibits and shows.
    • Inspects building facilities to ensure proper maintenance and non-hazardous conditions. Corrects or reports improper conditions.
    • Inventories and maintains a stock of custodial supplies.
    • Conducts new employee training with instruction on custodial activities and proper equipment and supply utilization.
    • Keeps simple records on inventories, attendance, scheduling, repairs and routine maintenance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make simple gross motor responses within large tolerances.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    Very fundamental levels of the ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    Six months of experience in custodial services are required.

    PREFERENCES

    ****Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. ****

    Preference will be given to applicants with following skills set:
    • Two (2) years or more of experience in operations and/or maintenance of a large facility.
    • Some supervisory experience.
    • A valid drivers license.

    Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
