    Minimum Qualifications

    One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility. In addition to operations and maintenance, the following types of experience are also qualifying; law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OR

    One year of military service in any of the military branches; OR

    An Associate’s or higher-level degree, or 60 credit hours of college-level coursework; OR

    Completion of an appropriate two-year technical / trades school program or two years of experience as a trade assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson.

    If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.

    Duties Description

    The Park Worker 3’s duties include but are not limited to:

    • Reconcile purchases in the Statewide Financial System-SFS.
    • Assist Park Supervisors, trades generalists and field carpenters with various tasks such as rental agreements, insurances, mandatory trainings, building inspections, state physicals, computer assistance and other paperwork.
    • Prepare and submit hiring paperwork to HR when necessary.
    • Enter and review payroll and keep a log book of employees’ time off.
    • Collect all Dam reports and share with engineering.
    • Collect vehicle and equipment fuel sheets, compile data and share with garage.
    • Fill out work orders for regional maintenance and garage assistance.
    • Issue road permits, off season permits and special event permits.
    • Send bills/invoices to all camp organizations.
    • Collect all necessary operating paperwork, documents, insurances, etc. from each camp.
    • Construction and update DAM Emergency Action Plans.
    • Collect seasonal surveys and compile data.
    • Work with camps to determine their specific needs and relay to Park Manager and Park Supervisors.
    • Monitor phones, voicemails, and communication radio.
    • Create annual on call schedule for the Park Supervisors.
    • Assist with keeping track of two budgets, camp department and NYWORKS field carpenters.
    • On-line purchases.
    • Complete lease renewals between PIPC and organizations.
    • Note taking at meetings and site visits with Park Manager.

    OPERATING NEEDS:

    • Applicants must be available to work a variable schedule, weekends, and holidays.

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.

    • Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

    • Applicant must maintain a valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification as a term of employment.

    • Applicants should have experience with office applications, such as SFS, HRIS, LATS.

    • Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

    ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
    Location Pay:

    The hiring rate will be the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 9 ($41,399) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The job rate will be the sum of the statutory job rate ($50,884) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400).
