The Family Support Division (FSD), Child Support Outreach Unit is seeking a candidate to fill a Benefit Program Specialist position. This position will be based on the candidate selected.
A considerable amount of travel is required, some occurring outside of the coverage area and requiring overnight stays.The successful candidate will manage a caseload of child support clients enrolled in outreach programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting on-site child support presentations and in-depth interviews of persons in Eastern Region Department of Corrections Adult Institutions at least twice a week;
- Travels frequently, including overnight stays averaging 5 overnight stays per month; travel required outside of the region area;
- Not eligible for Distributive Work
- Assist with coordinating child support outreach activities;
- Assist in program planning, development, evaluation and implementation utilizing existing data and research regarding best practices;
- Assist in developing new program policies and procedures;
- Modify existing program policies and procedures and communicate changes to contracted providers as required;
- Monitor services provided by contracted providers and write monitoring reports;
- Provide technical assistance and training as needed;
- Maintain data for the areas(s) assigned and distribute to the FSD offices within the region(s);
- Represent FSD at meetings on boards, councils, committees, and workgroups;
- Utilize knowledge of Child Support policies and procedures and conduct extensive research to provide assistance, guidance, and coordination in the successful development of new material for the Outreach Program;
- Work closely with our contractors/community partners;
- Utilize knowledge of Child Support policies and procedures as well as knowledge of the contractual agreements between the State of Missouri and contractors to provide assistance, guidance, and coordination in the successful productivity and effectiveness of the outreach activities.
Two or more years of professional experience (e.g., Family Support Eligibility Specialist, Child Support Specialist, Children’s Service Worker, Medicaid Technician) with the Missouri Department of Social Services in income maintenance; social services; medical services; resource, financial, or legal investigation; child support enforcement, or a closely related area;
ORA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Accounting; Business, Public or Health Care Administration; Education; Nursing; Medical Technology; behavioral or social sciences; or a closely related field;
and, Two or more years of professional experience in income maintenance; social services; medical services; resource, financial, or legal investigation; child support enforcement, or a closely related area. (24 earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute for one year of the required experience.)

- Three years of Child Support experience
