    Analyst/Programmer - Career

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

    Leads the design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Slate. Independently completes the most complex projects and configuration, serves as a proactive expert, and develops solutions that combine information and ideas in new and unprecedented ways. Leads the Admissions Systems team and implementation efforts for assigned projects. Responsible for onboarding and training of all users, which includes individual and group training and presentations.

    Analyzes user system and application needs, determines and evaluates alternative solutions and approaches to meeting those needs. Consults with users to identify and document software/system purpose, workflow issues, output needs and to determine overall functional and technical system requirements and specifications. Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions. Work with users to test and debug programs. Writes documentation to provide user support for new or modified programs and production/operation procedures. Serves as a liaison with software vendors. Evaluates third party software and troubleshoots new software installations. Works with Information Technology Services (ITS) to design fully integrated database systems and ensures system integrity and efficiency. Maintains and supports associated databases. Recommends modifications to third party software to meet user needs. Tests newly installed, modified, or third-party software releases and/or updates. Evaluates and supplements vendor supplied documentation for third party software. Configures or modifies programs using multiple applications and databases. Develops program implementation project plans. Understands technical and vendor documentation and maintains internal documentation. Designs and audits security requirements, including roles and row level. Uses productivity tools to develop and modify applications software to meet user needs. Works with user community to understand data access and query needs. Designs queries using PeopleSoft query manager and Slate. Monitors database standards and procedures, system usage, and performance. Troubleshoots and resolves database and data problems. Establishes standards and procedures for strategic data planning, data analysis and modeling, and data element standardization and use to ensure accurate, useful and readily accessible data. Monitors, analyzes, and verifies data to ensure data integrity. Analyzes data requirements, develops and documents data dictionary, and develops data models. Assists in data transfers or sharing of files. Designs and processes batch procedures and works with ITS to automate processes whenever possible. Serves as project manager for complex projects including design, planning, time management, and implementation. Leads work direction, including evaluating and setting work priorities, scheduling and assigning work, reviewing work against standards, and determining training needs and training staff. Represents the campus in systemwide module group meetings and discussion. Represents the office in student facing events and be able to speak to the systems that students utilize. Works with campus partners to help promote the use of systems and provide leadership with use summaries and project proposals. Works with ITS to automate processes that run overnight, recommend and test enhancements with IT and other business analysts in the department and across campus. Provides system recommendations to Enrollment Management (EM) leadership to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Campus policies, including Assembly Bills, Senate Bills and CSU coded memos. Provides project status including deviation from production goals, potential impact on other areas, and recommends solutions. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

    Education: Bachelor's degree required. Preferred degrees include computer science or business. Master’s degree preferred.

    Experience: At least four years of closely related professional experience required. Experience with CRM systems required. Experience with higher education admissions and registrar’s office business practices required; CSU experience preferred.

    Other Knowledge/Skills: Ability to implement system setup according to laws, regulations, and campus policy. Experience and proficiency using MS Office applications and experience with the following systems preferred: PeopleSoft, CollegeSource Transfer Evaluation System, Parchment, Schedule Builder, Degree Planner, EAB Navigate, Perceptive Content, and Liaison. Ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities.

    Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgement. Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form as related to Student Systems. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.

    Hiring Range: $6,250 - $6,667 per month
