About the University

The newest addition to the California State University system, California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 with 629 transfer students and welcomed its first freshman class in Fall 2003. Since that time, the University has grown and developed into one of the premier public universities not only in the CSU system, but also int he nation. Indeed, in its 2018 ranking, U.S. News and World Report listed CSUCI as the 18th highest-ranked public university in the western United States.

CSUCI is a public comprehensive university that engages students in critical inquiry and is dedicated to educate leaders for a global society. CSUCI is located in Ventura County and home to more than 6,800 undergraduate and 240 graduate students. We are proud to note that our campus is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). 50% of the CSUCI undergraduate students are Latinx, 29% are White, 2% are African American, 5% are Asian American, and 4.5% are multiracial.

Division of Academic Affairs/School of Education Administrative Support Coordinator II RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Program Support: Provides general support to Early Childhood Studies program and faculty including but not limited to organizing events, making room reservations, obtaining parking passes for guests, submitting catering orders, processing expense claims, purchasing, creating outlook calendar invitations, creating zoom meetings for meetings and events, note taking during meetings, developing program and event flyers, processing travel, and new faculty on-boarding assistance. Places orders for program specific office supplies and promotional items and keeps an inventory. Distributes monthly program newsletter. Maintains and updates folder with student and faculty resources as well as program information. Maintains program resources by developing a system for resource check-out by students. Coordinates and leads student recruitment sessions on and off campus and virtually. Supports faculty during orientation, information sessions, and admitted Dolphin Day. Assists in the retention of ECS students by giving access to program resources and connecting students to CSUCI campus resources. Maintains consistent and clear communication with ECS Program Chair and faculty. Other related program duties as assigned. Field Placements: In consultation with the Early Childhood Studies (ECS) Program Chair and faculty, visits schools and liaises with early childhood centers/school site administrators to help arrange and secure sites for field work and student teaching. Communicates with sites to identify, confirm, and monitor students in their field placements. Arranges all field placements for student teachers and student observers. Communicates with students about field placements requirements. Processes, tracks, and records all supporting documents for required clearances (fingerprints, vaccinations, T.B., etc.). Communicates with field sites regarding field work attendance. Manages and monitors student teacher timesheets. Creates and maintains database of field and partner sites (site, mentor teachers, course-related information, etc.) and student and mentor perception surveys to help ensure the availability of data for the continuous improvement of the ECS program. Maintains database of Student Teaching Agreements with Field Sites, and processes new agreements. Edits student teaching handbook and field work guidelines. Provides support for service-learning experiences in ECS courses. Performs other related placement duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in early childhood, education, psychology, sociology, communication, or a related social science preferred. Customer service skills to support the mission of the University, School of Education, and ECS program. Strong general office skills and intermediate skills with PC, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe with the ability to use standard office equipment such as a scanner, copy and fax machine. About the Position: To plan, develop and teach pre-licensure Nursing Science classes in the clinical setting and the campus skills lab.
