    • Collaborate closely with the Division Director in long-term strategic planning, dashboard measurements, and providing comprehensive project management oversight for the Missouri One Start Division.
    • Collaborate with program staff daily to discuss ongoing projects, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure program goals are being met.
    • Lead efforts to develop a thorough understanding of Missouri One Start's recruitment, training, and upskilling resources.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local economic development representatives, fostering partnerships to support growth.
    • Direct and assist in the management of Missouri One Start's programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
    • Spearhead the development and implementation of new or revised programs or legislative initiatives, working collaboratively across teams.
    • Exercise considerable independence, initiative, and sound judgment in decision-making.
    • Supervise and mentor a diverse team of professionals, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
    • Travel as required (up to 10%, primarily day trips) to support the division’s objectives.


    A typical day in this role involves close collaboration with program staff to ensure smooth execution of initiatives. You might start your day by reviewing key program metrics and holding a meeting with staff to address any immediate needs or challenges. This could be followed by working on strategic project updates with the Division Director or reviewing and providing feedback on a new training program or legislative initiative. As the day progresses you may provide guidance on ongoing projects or work with your team to address any compliance or operational issues. You might close the day with a supervisory check-in, discussing team performance, providing mentorship, and setting goals for the coming week.

    Competencies:

    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions in dynamic situations.
    • Proven leadership experience in managing diverse teams and supervising program execution to achieve successful outcomes.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas confidently and professionally.
    • In-depth knowledge of economic, political, social, geographic, and cultural factors impacting community and economic programs.
    • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and execute complex assignments within tight deadlines.
    • Proficient in developing, implementing, and overseeing program-based seminars, workshops, or training sessions.
    • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including state officials, legislators, and the general public.
    • Expertise in preparing, analyzing, and evaluating policies and operations, with a talent for making data-driven recommendations.
    • Energetic and approachable demeanor, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work culture.
    • Strong decision-making and change management skills, with a focus on achieving tangible results.
    • Ability to develop and implement short- and long-range plans aligned with the division’s goals and the department’s mission.
    • Ability to provide leadership and supervision to professional and technical program staff.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree and four or more years of professional experience in community or economic development, education, public relations, economics, business or public administration, international business, or a closely related area.
    • Proven track record of leading teams, managing programs, and driving strategic initiatives to completion.
