Survey Party Chief II: $31.92 - $38.79 / Hourly

THE POSITION: Under general supervision, leads and is responsible for field survey operations; plans and directs the work of a survey crew performing preliminary location, land, topographic and construction surveys; leads and instructs crew in job and work procedures; interprets construction plans for errors and omission to assist Engineers or Construction Inspectors in problem resolution; and performs other work as required.
Representative DutiesPlans the details for specific survey projects; researches record information; organizes, assigns and directs the work of a survey crew in conducting preliminary, location, construction, property, topographic and other precise surveys. Does the more complex field computations such as computing curves, missing distances, deflections, closures, bearings, and slopes; records and submits field notes.

Minimum QualificationsApplications will be accepted only from those applicants who clearly demonstrate on the Application, Resume, and Supplemental Questionnaire that they have: Survey Party Chief I: - High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible technical experience in surveying, AND
- Possession of a valid California Class "C" driver’s license.
Survey Party Chief II: In addition to the above:- Land Surveyor-In-Training Certificate (LSIT), OR
- Land Surveyor License (LS), AND
- Two (2) years of experience at a level equivalent to Survey Party Chief I.

VACATION: Accrual rate is determined by bargaining unit.
1-4 years of service: 10 days per year.
5-13 years of service: 15 days per year.
14+ years of service: 20 days per year.
VACATION - FIRE SAFETY SHIFT PERSONNEL ONLY:
1-4 years of service: 4.68 (24-hr. duty shifts)
5-15 years of service: 7.02 (24-hr. duty shifts)
16+ years of service: 9.36 (24-hr. duty shifts)
HOLIDAYS: 13 paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: Earned at the rate of one working day per month of service to a maximum of 120 days; portions therafter may be convertible.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE: 10 days per year for General Supervisory and Management employees.
