Job Location: This position will be located at a site to be determined at time of hire. The position home base will be one of the Department regional offices (Jefferson City, Columbia, St. Louis, Raytown, or Springfield) that is closest to the applicant's home.

    Why you’ll love this position:

Epidemiologists with the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program work on a diverse team of professionals in a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever alike. The Program's mission is to contain emerging threats from antibiotic-resistant (AR) organisms, detect and respond to outbreaks within healthcare facilities, promote surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, and expand prevention efforts in various healthcare settings through collaborations and innovative approaches. Join our team if you are interested in an exciting and rewarding career aimed at promoting and protecting Missourians’ health.

    • Serve as a subject matter expert in case and outbreak investigations of HAI and AR conditions in a variety of healthcare settings.
    • Supervise and coordinate a team of epidemiologists performing investigations, providing assistance and recommendations, and compiling data on cases and oubreaks.
    • Collaborate with other HAI staff, regional Epidemiologists, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and local health department staff on HAI related activities.
    • Maintain the ability to assist with other HAI/AR focus area duties as needed: antibiotic stewardship activities, data collection and analysis, training, etc.
    • Use trainings, webinars, and professional development activities to increase expertise in the various areas of HAI/AR.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in public health or similar health related field and 2 or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed)
    • Knowledge of current research and analytical methods related to public health and epidemiology.
    • Ability to implement and evaluate program activities relating to the prevention and control of communicable, chronic, or environmentally induced diseases.
    • Understanding of program processes and methods for prevention, intervention, and control of diseases of public health importance.
