Job Description

Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood Dr, Jefferson City MO 65109 with eventual possibility (following a successful training and orientation period) to transition to a hybrid working arrangement (1-2 days each week from the Jefferson City office; 3-4 days each week from a remote/home location).

The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public by assuring that emergency medical services provided by ambulance services, emergency medical response agencies, training entities and EMS personnel meet or exceed established standards.

  • Communicate with the Bureau Administrator in a professional manner and conduct duties as assigned.
  • Have and maintain knowledge of Missouri EMS statutes and regulations related.
  • Have and maintain knowledge of NREMT EMS policies.
  • License personnel after approval with background check(s), proof of current certification card, and continued education hours with transcripts, except only inspectors that are licensed paramedics shall approval the advance level continued education topics.
  • At the direction of the EMS Bureau Administrator, provide preliminary investigation and assist with directing facts to the primary BEMS investigator.
  • Demonstrate professional written and verbal communications skills. Maintain accurate and complete files of incoming and outgoing EMS correspondence.
  • Provide technical assistance and basic information to EMS licensees.
  • Perform service, agencies, and training entities site and virtual inspections. Only paramedic licensed inspectors shall inspect advance level ambulance services.
  • Adding new service licenses and forms to the License Management System software.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of operations relating to EMS statutes and regulations, sunshine requests, responding to phone calls, emails and all requests for information or clarification and communicate with the Bureau Administrator as appropriate.
  • Maintain an EMS license.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0-1 year of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed).
  • Current Missouri Paramedic license or
  • Current Missouri AEMT license or
  • Current Missouri EMT license
  • Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license, or equivalent license from another state. Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record that meets the standards developed by the Missouri Department of Public Safety (DPS) and DHSS policies to operate vehicles.
  • A minimum of three (3) years active EMS field experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • EMS supervisory experience or EMS Course Coordinator and/or Instructor experience.
  • Application review/processing experience and quality assurance/audit experience.
  • Knowledge of EMS data collection systems, software and processes is highly desirable.
