The Job

The Office of the District Attorney is recruiting for Supervising Deputy District Attorneys who supervise the daily operations of a functional unit or branch office. Incumbents will oversee the administration of criminal cases processed by a district office, including the preparation, presentation and appeal of cases.

Additionally, Supervising Deputy District Attorneys may provide budgetary input; participate in hiring and disciplinary actions; train and evaluate work performance of trial attorneys; recommend personnel actions; inquire into questions of law and counsel attorneys on strategy; review and evaluate disposition of difficult and politically sensitive cases; maintain liaison with department administration, police agencies, courts and other County offices; prepare briefs, appeals, writs and other legal documents; and order investigations and subpoenas.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Assignment: Assignments may be made to any location in the County depending on the needs of the department. Applicants should assume the opening may be located at any office in the County.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. At time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile insurance may be required.

State Bar: Those hired must be active members in good standing with the State Bar of California. This status must be maintained in order to remain employed in this classification.

Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements

Bar License: Must be a member in good standing with the California Bar Association.

AND

Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a prosecuting trial attorney in California at the time of application AND currently employed as a Deputy District Attorney IV with San Bernardino County.

Your San Bernardino County employment must be clearly listed in your work history.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have more than five (5) years of experience as a prosecuting attorney in California as a top-ranked line deputy prosecutor.
