The Systems Administration Technician's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support the State of Missouri’s core organizational functions and websites. Systems Administration Technicians are responsible for the support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server applications for both public-facing and internal networks. Successful candidates must be organized, self-motivated, and enjoy a challenge. This position entails keeping up with IT-related requests, researching new technologies to improve current systems, working on individual projects as well as projects within a group, and solving complicated problems all while minimizing downtime. This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the State Data Center (SDC).

- Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned technologies.
- Ensure that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications meet enterprise and security standards.
- Proactively monitor and report performance and utilization of assigned technologies.
- Troubleshoot software and/or hardware issues/failures.
- Resolve alerts and perform remediation activities.
- Manage problems or escalate tickets and tasks from systems/software owners.
- Provides input into infrastructure architecture designs.
- Participates in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises.
- General Windows Server Administration and Application Server Administration.
- General Linux RHEL Administration and Application Server Administration.
- This position will work with ADFS (Active Directory Federated Services), and OpenSource (Apache Tomcat and other JAVA-based application servers).
- This position will also directly support DNR Dedicated Application Servers/Systems.
- Knowledge and experience with Windows and/or Linux server operating systems.
- Knowledge of Windows OS Knowledge of Linux OS Knowledge of Network Infrastructure, TCP/IP, and Network Troubleshooting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel.
- Knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards.
- Ability to learn and grow Windows and Linux server troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to address multiple projects/tasks daily and possession of strong troubleshooting skills are key.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and work demands.
- The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Self-motivated/directed to handle multiple tasks and projects with minimal direction.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
