Job Description

The Job

Fleet Management is currently recruiting for Fleet Training Specialists* who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, assessing, and delivering training programs for Fleet Services Technicians and Mechanics Assistants. Duties include: recommending, developing, and conducting training needs assessments; developing curricula, lesson plans, and training materials; developing and delivering training programs; and preparing and coordinating training schedules.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Fleet Management provides services for county vehicles and equipment which include the acquisition, maintenance, repair, modification, and disposal of vehicles and other related equipment. Service areas within the department include light duty (cars and pickup trucks), heavy duty (large trucks and other equipment), welding/metal fabrication, parts and a fueling station. The department also operates five “service centers” in outlying locations and over60 strategically located fueling sites with more than 100 fuel tanks. It’s Motor Pool division maintains approximately 1,900 automobiles, vans, pick-up trucks, and various specialty vehicles assigned to county departments. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, and/or medical exam, prior to appointment.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. Incumbents will be required to make provision for transportation. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained by the individual providing the transportation.

Licenses Requirement: Incumbents must obtain and maintain and Class B driver licenses within six (6) months of hire to meet probationary standards.

Physical Requirements: Incumbents deliver classroom training on a regular basis which includes frequent and continuous walking and standing.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience providing training in automotive, heavy-duty truck, equipment, or closely related field.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a current Master ASE Certification in A1 through A9 and/or T1 through T8.
