Why you’ll love this position:

Located within the state-of-the-art, high-security Nixon Forensic Center, the Social Learning Program at Fulton State Hospital is the longest running program of its kind in the nation. Research has established the Social Learning Program as the “treatment of choice” for individuals diagnosed with psychotic disorders in inpatient treatment settings. It is an evidence-based, highly structured, milieu-based approach to treatment consisting of a network of skills training techniques and supports based on learning theory, individually tailored to client needs and delivered by all staff within the context of a supportive, rehabilitation-oriented foundation. Together these interventions form an extremely positive teaching environment that assists clients in developing adaptive behaviors and skills relevant to successful return to the community.

What you’ll do:

The Social Learning Program is looking for a Psychologist with training and experience working with individuals diagnosed with psychotic disorders. The Psychologist will function as an active member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. In addition to providing milieu-based services, the Psychologist will utilize a range of clinical interventions, including individual and group psychotherapy and clinical case management, which they will then document. They will also utilize observational assessment data to assist the treatment team with data-driven case conceptualization, risk assessment, and clinical decision-making. They may conduct psychological assessments as needed. While Social Learning Programs are a recognized evidence-based practice in and of themselves, they can also incorporate additional evidence-based practices to meet the individual needs and functioning of clients; therefore, the Psychologist is encouraged to keep abreast of existing and emerging evidence-based practices so they can be considered for implementation. Psychologists who are creative, detail-oriented, and dedicated to the delivery of evidence-based treatment would be ideally suited to this position.
