ADMISSIONS EVALUATOR (2 POSITIONS)
Evaluator Trainee/Evaluator I
Admissions and Recruitment

Salary Range: Evaluator Trainee: $3,695 - $4,478/Monthly. Evaluator I: $3,866 - $5,440/Monthly.

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions : Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director for Admission Evaluations, the incumbent is responsible for the evaluation of admissions and academic records for admission eligibility, and determination of external transfer course credit. Work is performed under general supervision and requires a high degree of accuracy. The position processes and evaluates undergraduate and graduate applications; makes university admission eligibility determinations; performs evaluations of all types of academic records; interprets, analyzes, and applies written regulations, complex procedures and university policies; updates the CMS Student Systems; and assists applicants with the explanation of admissions decisions, policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications & Experience :

Evaluator Trainee : Equivalent to six months responsible experience involving academic, administrative, fiscal or statistical records processing and maintenance, or two years of full-time college with course work specific to development of quantitative and analytical skills. Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are moved to the Evaluator I classification.

Evaluator I : Equivalent to one year of academic records evaluation experience; OR one year equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation; OR any twelve-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.

Both : The incumbent must have knowledge of Windows, including Word and Excel and possess strong analytical, mathematical, written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must also possess the potential ability to work independently under general supervision with a high degree of accuracy. The ability to confront problems analytically and logically, and make appropriate conclusion; obtain a thorough understanding of the many variables, regulations, policies, practices and procedures involved in the admissions operation; disseminate clear and accurate information; attention to detail; and to maintain a good working relationship with applicants, faculty, staff, and the general public. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications : A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. PC proficiency - knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Cal State Apply, CMS PeopleSoft, and Hyland Imaging Systems are a plus. A quick study; multitask oriented; handle heavy workload; constantly demonstrate attitudes and behaviors in keeping good customer service; professionalism; student center philosophy and teamwork. Ability to work independently, take initiative and use own discretion in completing projects; and ability to work well under pressure.
