    Job Description

    Job Location: This position will be located at 8800 E 63rd St, Raytown, MO 64033.

    We are seeking an individual with a high level of initiative who enjoys a challenging, fast-paced work environment where every day is different. This position is essential to ensuring the reduction of disease transmission in the central counties of Missouri. A person in this position will work with diverse populations. In addition, this position will frequently communicate with medical providers.

    • Initiate and complete investigations on reportable HIV/STI infections, including interviewing those infected or at risk of infection.
    • Assure appropriate testing and treatment of those with HIV/STI infections.
    • Explain the medical aspects of disease transmission and risk reduction activities.
    • Notify sex and needle-sharing partners of their exposure and need for testing and/or treatment.
    • Conduct HIV/STI rapid specimen collection and provide both positive and negative results
    • Provide support, guidance, and health education regarding HIV/STI best practices according to CDC guidelines to LPHA staff, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
    • Assist other members of the disease investigation team, as needed.
    • Assist the regional supervisor and program coordinator with quality assurance and improvement projects, as requested.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Substitutions may be permitted.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a working knowledge of public health functions and essential services.
    • This position requires professionalism, excellent attention to detail, initiative, flexibility, discretion, and the strict maintenance of confidentiality.
    • The candidate should be comfortable with having sexually explicit discussions with the individuals served through the partner services program and be able to relay medical information about HIV/STI transmission to staff, the general public, and medical providers.
