This position will be filled based on previous experience as an engineering student intern. The entry salary is posted above, with year-two rate of $ 22.62 per hour and year-three rate of $24.19 per hour. Job Location: Jefferson City Project Office, 5617 Red Eagle Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109. The construction intern d uties may range from technician-level to entry-level professional depending on student knowledge, skills, and abilities. Construction i ntern inspects routine construction items for conformance to plans, specifications, special provisions, and terms of the contract. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision. What you’ll do: Assists in construction inspections verifying that contractors' activities are in compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles. Performs basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; reports results to supervisor. Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving, including grading and base, small bridges, concrete box and pipe culverts and special items, such as utility adjustments, signing, traffic signals and lighting. Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections; keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensures projects meet department standards. Performs measurements, computation, enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs. Assists on routine layout, staking, and surveying of future construction projects; may operate survey instruments. Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited. Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0. Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
