There are two Maintenance Worker positions being filled and the positions are with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri State Parks, and will be located at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park 800 Guy Park Dr. Wildwood, MO 63005. Work shifts normally are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with a ½ hour lunch break. Days off are Saturday and Sunday. These positions may be required to work at least one weekend per month from April-October. Must also work varying shifts depending on holidays, emergencies, and special events as needed. Semi-skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction and repair of buildings and trail system, and routine cleaning of structures with assistance in the operation of the water/wastewater systems. Assist with assigning tasks to and reviewing work of seasonal maintenance staff. Monitor operations of the water and wastewater systems. Perform testing, report problems and maintain records as required or in the absence of the Specialized Trades Worker (Senior Maintenance Worker) Diagnose, Oversee or perform routine, technical and complex repairs of lift station, irrigation pumps, towers, pipes, drains, faucets and all parts of the water/waste water system. Direct and perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, routine preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, buildings and structures maintenance, infrastructure and tree trimming. Must be able to perform some minor vehicle and equipment repairs on site Purchase operating supplies, parts and project materials as necessary. Become familiar with and follow all procurement rules and procedures. Communicate openly and effectively with the public, external stakeholders, supervisors and subordinates. Assist with stewardship of resources, both natural and cultural. Participate in controlled burns, invasive plant removal and other resource management related projects. Participate in off-site controlled burns at other parks in the unit, and/or to help meet Region or Statewide management goals. Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures and policies. Attend mandatory and other trainings including overnight stays to learn new or enhance existing skills. Fire Certification, S-190 or MDC Level 1, must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment. These positions will be required to have certifications in wastewater operation and/or water distribution or other required certifications depending on facility operation plan, If you do not have current certification, you will be given 12 months from appointment date to obtain the necessary certifications. THE POSITION IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT The Facilities and Real Property Management Division of Public Works is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker. The ideal candidate will have the ability to complete a wide variety of semiskilled manual tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience with assignments including repairs to buildings, fixtures and equipment including locks, windows, doors, screens, blinds, gutters, drains, shelving, furniture, cabinets, minor roofing repairs, flooring repair, plaster and concrete, painting and drywall repair, hauling, demolition and carpentry tasks. To perform work approaching the journey level in a variety of trades in the maintenance and repair of City facilities, equipment, and buildings. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The Building Maintenance Worker is independently responsible for the completion of assignments approaching the journey level in a variety of trades. This class differs from other trade classes such as Carpenter, Electrician, and Painter, in that the latter perform journey level work in specialized disciplines.
