Duties Description The Code Compliance Specialist 1, SG-18 will be assigned to the Capital Bureau and reports to the Code Compliance Specialist 2, SG-23. As a Code Compliance Specialist 1 duties will include but are not limited to the following: • Review and inspects building plans and building permit applications for compliance with the NYS Uniform Fire, Building and Energy Codes • Schedule, coordinate and conduct compliance inspections of existing buildings, new construction projects, alterations, repairs and demolitions. • Meets with architects and engineers to respond to questions and provides technical information on code requirements. • Inspects new construction projects to verify that approved building plans are in compliance with Uniform Code, specifications and good construction practices. • Inspects existing buildings to determine compliance with the Uniform Code and recommends any corrective actions to resolve violations. • Recommends to supervisor legal orders and notices such as stop work orders, compliance notices and notices forbidding occupancy. Additional Comments The posted hiring rate is the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($65,001) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($82,656) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). Operational Needs: • You must have an active certification as a Code Enforcement Official pursuant to Title 19NYCRR, Part 434, or Part 1208. • At the time of appointment and as a condition for continued employment, you must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
