Position Summary Under the immediate direction of the Laboratory Technologist II, the incumbent performs a variety of standardized clinical laboratory tests, including chemical, microscopic, microbiological, hematological and other diagnostic examinations; observes and records the reactions of patients under examination, performs chemical and physical tests to identify the composition of a patient's blood, urine and various body fluids; collects specimens; performs various counts and tests; performs routine urinalysis examinations and pregnancy tests; maintains and operates instruments and equipment using established procedures; conducts routine calibration and/or standardization of instruments; conducts and records quality control measures; prepares certain solutions, reagents and media used in the laboratory; assists in maintaining laboratory inventory as needed.
