Department Summary Thank you for your interest in applying to be in the Dance Program Lecturer Pool . The Department of Film and Theatre has three (3) Majors: 1) Radio-Television-Film, 2) Theatre Arts, and 3) Dance, which prepare students for careers as actors, dancers, performers, educators, directors, scriptwriters, producers, designers, technicians, managers, and scholarly/critical writers. The department creates short and feature films through Spartan Film Studios, a full season of stage productions, and other faculty, staff, and student production projects. Students can participate in the department’s full-time radio station, KSJS 90.5, which provides entertainment, sports, and community service to the Bay Area. Brief Description of Duties Teach undergraduate courses in Dance, including courses in the Dance major and those offered under General Education; hold regular office hours; work cooperatively with staff, department chair, and other faculty members; participate in course assessment activities. Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity-including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation-through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement. Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Position Summary Under the general direction of the Dean and a dotted line to the Director of the School of Journalism and Media Studies, the Manager of Student Media is responsible for providing guidance and support to students involved in journalism and media activities at San Diego State University. This includes both The Daily Aztec and KCR College Radio. The role involves working with students, overseeing content production, and ensuring the media group operates professionally. Duties include but are not limited to: Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Development: Develop a solid infrastructure and innovative business plan to grow and sustain student media across various platforms (print, radio, TikTok, etc.). Collaborate with student leaders and other stakeholders to achieve these goals. Financial Management and Administration: Create and manage general revenue and auxiliary budgets in alignment with university policies. Position Summary Under the general direction of the Dean and a dotted line to the Director of the School of Journalism and Media Studies, the Manager of Student Media is responsible for providing guidance and support to students involved in journalism and media activities at San Diego State University. This includes both The Daily Aztec and KCR College Radio. The role involves working with students, overseeing content production, and ensuring the media group operates professionally. Duties include but are not limited to: Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Development: Develop a solid infrastructure and innovative business plan to grow and sustain student media across various platforms (print, radio, TikTok, etc.). Financial Management and Administration: Create and manage general revenue and auxiliary budgets in alignment with university policies. Oversee payroll, purchasing, and approve expenditures related to student media. Work closely with the student media coordinator to develop budget reports for the director and media advisory board. Academic Integration and Faculty Relations: Integrate student media into the School of Journalism and Media Studies (JMS) curriculum. Foster strong relationships with faculty to support students’ seamless transition from the classroom to media environments.
