Job Description and Duties DSH-Napa is hiring a full time, permanent Chief Psychiatrist. The Chief Psychiatrist is responsible for all psychiatrists and plans, directs, and coordinates the various psychiatric services consistent with DSH-Napa’s mission, vision, and values. The Chief Psychiatrist is under the immediate supervision of the Medical Director and assists the Clinical Administrator and Program Directors in evaluating the effectiveness of the psychiatric services rendered within the health facility. The Chief Psychiatrist works closely with the Medical Director to recommend new or revised policies and standards and recommends priorities for the provision of medical services. The incumbent participates in professional, interdisciplinary, and hospital-wide committee work and assist in planning and providing the necessary training of medical staff. The Chief Psychiatrist must have the ability to apply principles and methods of psychiatry including diagnosis and treatment of behavior problems, mental and emotional disturbances, and mental deficiency; coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work of professional employees; formulate and effect practical and comprehensive plans for the psychiatric care and treatment of adult offenders; prepare clear and concise reports; and communicate effectively.
