    About the Position:

    Project Rebound supports the higher education and successful reintegration of the formerly incarcerated. We believe a successful university education leads to enhanced self-efficacy, civic engagement, and social and global awareness. It also enlarges the moral imagination, instills skills, and habits that assist people in securing gainful employment and living meaningful, responsible lives. By making higher education more accessible and supporting formerly incarcerated students to excel in a course of study, Project Rebound constructs an alternative to the revolving door policy of mass incarceration. CSUF Project Rebound is one of the campus programs within the CSU Project Rebound Consortium. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Project Rebound Program Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity.

    The Project Rebound Program Coordinator should be detail-oriented and self-motivated in order to support the Program Director with day-to-day operations. Key duties include coordinating events and special projects, managing student worker schedules and front desk operations, maintaining student records and communications, overseeing the program’s social media, and responding to inquiries. Other duties as assigned.

    Essential Qualifications

    High School diploma or the equivalent and three years of experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. General working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, practices, and equipment. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling with demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing. Ability to learn, interpret independently, apply, and identify deviations from a variety of complex policies and procedures. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions. Ability to perform arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data. Ability to work on the front line, with a variety of campus and community individuals requiring active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions. Basic typing and keyboarding skills.

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Lived experience of incarceration and/or the criminal legal system. Background in criminal justice is an asset, providing valuable insights and understanding in working with our student population. Demonstrated commitment to educating and empowering people impacted by the criminal legal system. Experience in working with diverse groups and building partnerships with key stakeholders. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies. Success in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the program’s target population (i.e., a formerly incarcerated person).

    Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, and clerical skills. Strong ability to work independently, take initiative and multi-task. Strong ability to establish, articulate, and maintain life-affirming interpersonal boundaries. Solve problems and foster accountability within an empowerment/ restorative justice framework. Knowledge of local, state, and federal corrections systems, parole, probation, and housing. Ability to relay information clearly, accurately, and effectively to students, university faculty, staff, administrators, and community members. Proficiency in working with computers, digital communications, and popular software packages. Ability to work effectively with diverse partners in professional academic settings, community-based organizations, and corrections. Experience working with current and/or formerly incarcerated individuals.

    License/Certifications

    A valid California driver’s license.
