Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesGENERAL PURPOSE: Under close supervision, assists with the daily operations at the Joe Foss Shooting Complex.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties

- Observes public shooting activities and enforces safety regulations on rifle, pistol, archery, trap and skeet ranges.
- Provides assistance with shooting programs.
- Performs daily maintenance including raking, emptying trash, landscaping, custodial duties, and maintaining target frames.
- Operates and maintains trap and skeet clay machines; builds and replaces target stands.
- Handles customer transactions at the point of sale, monitors inventory, balances cash drawers and maintains accurate cash handling practices.
- Monitors firing lines to ensure compliance with safety rules and answers questions.
- Maintains and performs minor repairs on range equipment and machinery.
- Provides exceptional customer service by assisting visitors, responding to inquiries, and ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Sets up and takes down classroom spaces for instruction.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications & Position RequirementsEducation and Experience:High school diploma or GED is required and six (6) months of parks, recreation or other related experience. Experience with shooting ranges, firearms, outdoor work, and customer service desirable.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of: - City policies and procedures
- Policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of persons using municipal recreational facilities, programs and equipment
- Equipment used in shooting range sport fields
- Proper materials and procedures used for maintaining and cleaning facilities
- City programs and facilities as it relates to front desk operations and registration
Skill in: - Strong communication and customer service
- Interacting with people of diverse backgrounds
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with people
- Safety consciousness
- Basic computer literacy
- Following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions
Ability to: - Operate power tools, lawn equipment, and perform outdoor maintenance tasks
- Operate a cash register and point of sale system
- Consistently enforce range rules
- Ensure a safe, family friendly range experience
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for long durations, and work in outdoor conditions
- Work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or required
Additional InformationSpecial Requirements: Valid Arizona Driver’s License. Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or ability to obtain and maintain. Must be at least 21 years of age.. All required firearm and safety training will be provided. Additional training or coursework in recreation or safety training will be provided. Use of safety equipment required (safety shoes, glasses, etc.).
Days of Week Worked: Thursday-Sunday, weekends & holidays may be required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is primarily performed outdoors with exposure to weather and hazardous materials. Moderately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)
ASRS eligibility is defined by the State. Participation is mandatory for employees deemed eligible. ASRS defines eligibility as employees scheduled to work 20 hours or more each week for 20 or more weeks per year.
Sick Leave
Temporary, seasonal and reserve employees accrue 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked.
