RoleUnder general direction, performs work of moderate difficulty in maintaining County building plans and drawings, including as-built drawings and archive documents; drafts remodel plans according to architectural standards.
Major Duties, Responsibilities- Produces computer generated construction and design drawings and documents.
- Provides architectural and CAD support.
- Drafts plans utilizing AutoCAD®, survey information, and legal descriptions on maps and drawings.
- Performs technical calculations and calculates acreage of land parcels and square footage of buildings.
- Fields verifies existing building layouts and as-built drawings.
- Researches for, provides, and utilizes code compliance updates on architectural standards and building codes.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:A minimum of three (3) years of experience in cartography or drafting using AutoCAD®.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

- Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.

- Filing and recordkeeping.
Skill in:- Algebra, geometry, and trigonometry relative to cartography and architectural drafting.

- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
- Organization and adherence to detail.
Ability to:- Read and interpret graphic visual aids, blueprints, schematics or layouts.
- Create preliminary layout of mechanical, electrical, or structural systems for approved projects.
- Design development integrating materials, building codes, energy systems, and other requirements, into the schematic design.
- Comprehend and make inferences from written material, sketches, and project design material.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
- Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
- Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
- Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
- Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:The work environment is associated with various indoor and outdoor locations, in all weather conditions and includes exposure to loud noise, blood borne pathogens, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:Ability to bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time; move, lift, push, pull a variety of heavy objects; mix and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, or similar solutions using normal protective equipment; remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
