The City of Irvine is seeking to fill a Community Services Supervisor vacancy for the Disability Services program. Community Services Supervisors are responsible for the planning, organization, supervision, and management of service delivery, facility operations of the Sweet Shade Ability Center, program activities, and community relations.
Hours: Varying shifts between Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour Impact- Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates programs for older adults, youth and residents with disabilities. Monitors the quality of service provided. Develops, recommends and implements long-range goals, objectives, and policies relevant to the assigned program area. Prepares new program proposals and evaluates and recommends improvements or replacement of existing programs and services.
- Supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of subordinates. Assumes responsibility for recommending a variety of personnel actions in such areas as performance evaluations, training, selection, and disciplinary measures. Monitors and reviews work in progress, providing technical assistance and guidance.
- Recommends procedures consistent with departmental directives, policies, and regulations. Ensures appropriate policies and procedures are followed by subordinates and program participants.
- Communicates with staff and community to provide programming and/or coordinate activities with assigned services. Receives customer/client complaints and implements solutions.
- Develops, administers, and monitors assigned work unit budget. Participates in developing overall section and department budget. Oversees the assessment and collection of fees. Maintains budget-related records.
- Supervises the Sweet Shade Ability Center facility preparation required for program and group use. Ensures building, equipment, and amenities are in working order and supplies are adequate. Arranges custodial, maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair work. Recommends and implements equipment replacement.
- Prepares and approves a variety of correspondence, reports, and statistical information such as incident reports, purchasing requisitions, purchase authorizations, warrant requests, policy and procedure reports, promotional information, monthly program participation statistical reports, and proclamations/resolutions. May design reports, forms, and spreadsheets for data reports.
- Provides information regarding the assigned program(s), events, classes, services, and resources to the public, City officials, and other interested individuals and groups including the Disabilities Advisory Board. Prepares and gives public presentations. Represents the City in meetings with community groups, other agencies, and professional organizations. Advises groups and individuals regarding registrations and facility use policies. Serves on task forces/committees as required.
- Act as a liaison for the Disabilities Advisory Board.
- Act as a liaison between participants, advocacy groups, outside agencies, and programs.
- Utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications. Applies knowledge of current technology to enhance and upgrade service delivery.
- Maintains knowledge of community service needs and trends, and City policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in recreation, human services, social work, psychology, public administration, or a field related to assigned program area. Four years of increasingly responsible experience in community program supervision/administration, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license and evidence of a good record.
- Ability to possess or obtain in First Aid/CPR/AED certification within three months of employment required.
- Requires evidence of a negative tuberculin test taken within the past two years.
